Our story goes back further than the 90s, though. We’re part of the New Jersey Eye Center (NJEC) in Bergenfield, which was founded in the 1970s by Dr. Joseph Dello Russo. NJEC quickly became the first complete eye-care center in the region thanks to its full range of services including an on-site lab and out-patient surgery center.

World Class LASIK Surgeons
Our founding eye surgeons were pioneers of many of the popular optical-care technologies that are common today. During the FDA excimer laser trials in the 1990s, which eventually led to the approval of this technology, our LASIK center was the most prominent contributor of the ten participating centers.
In 1997 we gained FDA approval to conduct unique clinical trials to treat higher degrees of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism with laser technology. Previously, these advanced refractive corrections were not FDA approved and were not commonplace. The work carried out in our LASIK center led to changes nationwide.

Procedures at Dello Russo Laser Vision
We offer bladeless LASIK and PRK eye surgeries using the latest technology and techniques.
- LASIK: Laser eye surgery during which a flap is created in the cornea to allow the doctor to reshape the cornea to correct astigmatism, nearsightedness, or farsightedness
- PRK: Laser eye surgery during which a small piece of the top layer of the cornea is removed to allow the doctor to reshape the cornea to correct astigmatism, nearsightedness, or farsightedness
Our office was the first in the United States to use the Intralase laser, which is used to create the corneal flap in bladeless LASIK. In addition, we were the first LASIK center in the New York area to use custom Wavefront mapping of the cornea, allowing your doctor to precisely identify your vision needs and develop a personalized vision correction treatment plan. We also utilize Dr. Joseph Dello Russo’s pioneering Down-Up LASIK technique.
